Q: What advice would you give to mothers-to-be about using Conni products postpartum?

It's important to recognise that postpartum bleeding experiences can vary. Initially, we recommend our Conni Pull-Ons for heavy bleeding in the first few days. These disposable briefs provide reliable protection and are easy to manage. As the bleeding begins to slow, switch to our reusable options. For heavy periods post-birth, Conni Classics or Chantillys offer excellent protection. As the bleeding lightens, you can transition to our Actives or use our Reusable Liners in your regular underwear.

Q: Can I use Conni Ladies Reusable Underwear and Liners for postpartum bleeding?

Yes, you can. Many mothers have found our products helpful for postpartum bleeding. However, due to the heavy and unpredictable nature of post-birth bleeding, we suggest starting with our Conni Pull-Ons until the bleeding slows down. You can then transition to our Reusable Underwear and Liners.

Q: What Conni products should I pack in my hospital bag for postpartum bleeding?

We highly recommend our Pull-Ons, Classic or Chantilly Underwear and our Reusable Liners.  Plus don’t forget your Reusable Chair & Bed Pad!

  • Conni Pull-Ons: These disposable Pull-Up briefs have a capacity of approximately 2 bladder voids, making them dependable for managing heavy postpartum bleeding.
  • Conni Classic and Chantilly Underwear: These provide extended protection to the front and back waistbands, making them ideal for the initial heavier days of postpartum bleeding. Packing at least 4-5 pairs of Conni Classics or Chantillys is advisable, as washing underwear is more manageable than dealing with multiple pairs of pants and pyjamas each day.
  • Conni Reusable Liners: Coming in a handy pack of two with a waterproof bag, our Reusable Liners can be used with our Reusable Underwear for extra protection or in your regular undies for quick changes when the bleeding has slowed.
  • Conni Chair Pad: Our Reusable Chair Pads are incredibly versatile.  Mum’s can sit and feed without the worry of leaks, plus they can be used as a play and change mat for bub!
  • Reusable Bed Pad: Our Reusable Bed Pads are the highest-absorbing product in the Conni range. They provide reliable protection from heavy postpartum bleeding and bladder leaks as you recover. We also recommend using our Bed Pads in the lead-up to birth in case your water breaks while in bed. Our Classic Bed Pads (85cm x 95cm) are light and can be easily folded to store in your hospital bag. They can be used on any size bed and can also double as a play mat for bub once you're settled back home.

Q: How do Conni Pull-Ons compare to other disposable maternity pads?

We have received feedback that disposable maternity pads often leak, move around and bunch in the underwear, feeling bulky and uncomfortable.

Our Pull-Ons are full briefs with an elasticised waistband that gently fits around a bloated belly after labour.  They have also been carefully designed to with a wider absorption area at the rear of the brief which helps prevent leaks through the leg openings when sitting and lying for long periods of time.

Our Pull-Ons also hold a a capacity of 2 bladder voids/1000ml offering a reliable solution for heavy bleeding in those first few postpartum days.

Q: I am used to disposables.  How does the Reusable Underwear differ?

Conni Reusable Underwear and Liners offer several benefits compared to disposables. Firstly, they are more environmentally friendly, as they reduce waste. They are also more cost-effective in the long run, as they can be washed and reused multiple times. In terms of comfort, many find that reusable underwear and liners are softer and more breathable than disposables. Additionally, our Conni Reusable Underwear and Liners are designed to provide excellent protection and absorbency, ensuring you feel secure and dry throughout the day. Transitioning to reusable protection might take some adjustment, but the benefits in comfort, cost, and sustainability make it worthwhile

Q: When purchasing your Conni Reusable Underwear what size should I choose?

Typically, we recommend considering your current underwear size.  However, to accommodate postpartum body changes, especially around the deflating uterus, we suggest sizing up!  Sizing up will also increase the rise of the underwear by 1-2cm for a higher fit on the waist.

Q: Are Conni products suitable for C-section recovery?

Absolutely! Conni Reusable Underwear and Pull-Ons are soft and comfortable, which can be beneficial for C-section recovery. The gentle fabric won’t irritate your incision, and the reliable absorbency will help manage postpartum bleeding effectively.

Q: Can I use Conni Reusable Underwear at night?

After the initial heavy bleeding begins to slow and you transition out of our Pull-Ons, the Conni Reusable Underwear can certainly be used at night. For added peace of mind, you can also use a Conni Bed Pad to protect your bedding from any potential leaks.

Q: How do I manage postpartum bleeding while on the go?

A: When you're out and about, pack extra pairs of Conni Reusable Underwear and Liners in your bag. We also recommend popping a Conni Chair Pad in the nappy bag for added protection when sitting and feeding your baby.

Q: Are there any tips for caring for Conni Reusable Underwear and Liners for postpartum bleeding?

Following these care tips, you'll ensure that your Conni Reusable Underwear and Liners remain effective and comfortable throughout your postpartum period.

  • Pre-rinse: Rinse your underwear and liners in cold water immediately after use to remove excess blood.
  • Machine wash: Wash them in the washing machine with cold water. Avoid using hot water, as it can set stains.
  • Gentle detergents: Use a gentle, mild detergent to preserve the fabric and absorbency.
  • Avoid fabric softeners and bleach: Fabric softeners will coat the fibres and can affect the absorbency of the material.  While bleach will compromise the integrity of the waterproof material causing it to shrink and break down.
  • Air dry: For best results, air dry your Conni products. The sun’s UV rays act as a natural antibacterial. If needing to use a tumble dryer, please ensure the heat is set low as high heat can damage the fabric.

Navigating postpartum recovery can be challenging, but with the right products, it can be much more manageable. We are confident our solutions will help you feel secure and confident during this important time. Whether you’re at home, in the hospital, or on the go, Conni has you covered.
