Happy New Year!  We hope you enjoyed the beginning of 2023 with your families and friends!

As the mad Christmas and New Year rush settles down and we begin to get back into our daily routines, many of us find ourselves in a reorganising or clutter-clearing mood.  Together with sorting out the kids’ toybox, we also go through wardrobes and linen cupboards. We come across things that may need tossing, or it can be just a case of a quick wash to refresh and bring life back to your belongings.  To extend the life of your linen, clothing and accessories, it is always wise to follow the care instructions.

The Conni team are frequently asked how to wash and care for our products.  And, with such an incredible range of products on offer, serving an extremely important function, we must follow the care instructions specific to each product.

Here’s a rundown of how to properly look after each collection in the Conni range.

REUSABLE UNDERWEAR

Wash your Conni Reusable Underwear in warm or cool water with a good-quality laundry detergent.  Washing your underwear gently, and if you have one, a laundry bag will help protect these incredible undergarments.  A general rule for replacing your underwear is 6-12 months. However, following our care instructions can help your underwear last longer.

BED PADS & CHAIR PADS

We recommend your Bed Pads, and Chair Pads be washed after every exposure to voids. This will prolong the life of the Bed and Chair Pad and prevent odours from being trapped in the fibres. For best results, wash in warm or cool water with a good quality detergent, such as Napisan. A delicate or normal wash setting is preferred, and then hang on the line to dry. You’d be surprised how quickly they dry for a product so absorbent!

MATTRESS PROTECTORS, PILLOW PROTECTORS  & QUILT COVERS

Following the exact washing instructions as our Bed Pads and Chair Pads, our Mattress Protectors, Pillow Protectors, and Quilt Covers do not necessarily need to be washed every day if they have not been voided on.  If they have been, pop them straight in the wash.

Another important aspect of our Bedding Protection range is that these products have a polyurethane laminate backing.  This material is completely waterproof, and the liquid will bead when exposed to any liquid.  A good tip for our Micro Plush Mattress Protector, Micro Plush Encasement and Micro Plush Pillow Cases is to turn them inside out when drying.  This will allow any remaining water from the washing machine to drip off and dry.

FLOOR MATS

Our Floor Mats are a wonderful addition to any home, office or workplace.  They are incredibly durable, and they are really easy to care for.

We recommend washing your Floor Mats regularly to ensure they remain hygienic and clean.  Depending on your floor mat size, you can wash your mat in the bathtub, shower or laundry tub.  If you have our larger runners, you can take them outside and use the hose.  Giving your mat a gentle scrub with a good quality mild detergent, such as wool mix, will help to freshen up the mat.  Rinse off thoroughly and leave outside to dry in a flat position.  Laying your Floor Mats in this flat position will prevent any rippling and overstretching of the mat.

In the interim between washes, we also recommend giving your floor mat a chance to dry after being exposed to wet areas. Some customers simply leave it outside in the summer sun or pop it over the bathtub if they have one, as some examples.

If your Floor Mats are being used in a non-wet area of your home, such as the hallway, or have dried after being exposed to a bit of water, you can give them a quick vacuum in between washes.

CONTAINMENT SWIM SHORTS

Our Conni Containment Swim Shorts offer wonderful protection when in the water.  They are made of lightweight neoprene fabric, similar to that of a wetsuit.  Our Containment Swim Shorts must be hand washed in warm or cool water, ensuring the temperature does not exceed 40 degrees Celsius. Then hang them on the line to dry.  Do not tumble dry your swim shorts.

If you notice that you have had a void when wearing your shorts in the water, you can simply rinse the shorts before returning to your water activities.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER!

  • Please avoid using fabric softener, as this will coat the fibres and prevent your products from absorbing any liquid.
  • Excessive heat and bleach are Conni products’ worst enemies!  They will ultimately compromise the integrity of the waterproofing material.
  • The sun's UV rays act as a natural antibacterial.  So, hang or lay to dry in the sun any chance you have.
  • If you need to use a tumble dryer, you may do so at a very low temperature (excluding our Swim Shorts).  Please be mindful that the temperature inside a dryer can increase after multiple continuous cycles.

We hope this has been helpful and gives you a clearer idea of how to care for your Connis.  Oh, please do not ask us how to fold a fitted sheet!  Even our attempts to copy the youtube videos failed miserably!
